Principal Report:  Mrs. Hamm reported that the Catholic Schools Week Dinner will be on Sunday, January 26th.  We have four new preschoolers who started 2nd semester.  The Catholic United Financial Raffle is underway.  We are hoping to reach $10,000 this year.  The tickets are $5 each; 100% of the proceeds stay with the school.  No school Wed., February 12, due to a Teacher In-service.  No school Mon., February 17, due to Presidents’ Day.  Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Tue., Feb. 25, from 3:40-7:40 p.m., and Thur. Feb. 27, from 1:00-6:00 p.m.

Teacher Report:  Highlights from Mrs. Thomas’ report were:  The 1st graders are working on learning about winter and animals. They finished a Jan Brett author study and learning about MLK.  2nd grade just finished their First Reconciliation; now onward to First Communion.  The 3rd graders are working on writing everything in cursive this semester.  The 4th grade students are reading “The Watson’s Go to Birmingham” and learning about the Civil Rights Movement.  The 5th grade students are currently writing their autobiographies that will be on display this spring at graduation.

Red & Gold Report:  Mrs. Thomas reported that they did finish the hiring, there are five new employees.  They are about half way through with planning for this summer.  Their theme is snow, snowman, and ice.  They would like to purchase a Smart Board for their classroom.

PTSA Report:  PTSA is beginning work on the School Classic, which will be on Mar. 29th; donation request letters just went out last week.  All parents and parishioners will receive invitations again this year.  The next PTSA meeting is scheduled for Tues., Feb. 4th.

Financial Report:  November and December financial statements were reviewed. Jessica noted that we are on target for everything; the only thing that stuck out was the Special Events, #3142, line item.  Darla stated that Gail transferred the Golf Outing profits and Magazine/Cookie Sales into the line item in January.

Old Business:

·        Campaign/Building Update:  Fr. John reminded everyone about the joint meeting that will be held in the Parish Hall on Thursday, January 23, at 5:00 p.m.

New Business:

·        Catholic Schools Week Update:  Mrs. Hamm handed out a copy of the schedule of events for Catholic Schools Week.  The Ham Dinner and Auction will be held this Sunday, January 26. The school fundraiser this year will be a collection for Cameron Walter and her family, as she continues her fight with Lymphoma.  If the students reach their goal of $500 Mrs. Hamm will kiss a pig.  Some of the highlights for this year include:  Career Day, the Saints Wax Museum, and Mass with Bishop Swain in Sioux Falls.

·        New Phone System:  Fr. John shared our concerns with the phone system and how it is becoming antiquated.  They are using a new company from Sioux Falls that the Diocese uses, and they are looking at some of the options of the new systems.  He gave us a bid of about $13,000.  He is suggesting that we use the money from the Fall Festival to purchase the system, so we don’t have to pull the money from savings or anywhere else.  They are waiting for a breakdown of the bid.

Executive Session:  There was no need for executive session.

Adjournment:  The meeting was moved to adjourn by Jessica at 7:20.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 6:30 p.m.
